Lovely collection of artwork by Scottish artist and printmaker Alison Mckenzie (1907-1982), with sensitive, Rockwell Kent-esque figural sketches and woodblock prints, rendered on delicate tissue paper, some multiple impresses of the same print in various of completion.
Alison McKenzie was born in Bombay in 1907 and grew up in Scotland. She studied Design and Textiles at Glasgow School of Art before her family moved to London in 1930, where she studied at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art under Ian Mcnab. McKenzie designed several posters for the London North Eastern Railway to advertise the Yorkshire Dales and Norfolk Broads. She later taught at Dundee College of Art.
