Five photographs showing artworks shown in the groundbreaking, traveling exhibition “Contemporary Latin American Art” (1942-48), organized by pioneering curator and art historian Grace McCann Morley, the first director of the San Francisco Museum of Art (now SFMOMA).
Shown in the photographs are works by Mexican lumineries Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, José Clemente Orozco, and Francesco Dosamantes, as well as artworks by Antonio Sotomayor (Bolivia); Carlos Merida (Guatemala); Onofrio Pacenza (Argentina); Luis Alberto Acuña (Colombia); Eduardo Kingman (Ecuador); and Julia Codesido (Peru). There is also a photograph showing three large boards with reproductions of artworks including a few by Frida Kahlo, and accompanying texts.
