Unusual bilingual broadside advertising a cabaret act, a wire-walker and bicycle act, and a picture show at the Kalului Lyceum in Kalului, Maui County, Hawaii.

Located at what is now the intersection of Puunene and Kaahumanu Avenues, the Kahului Lyceum was built as a warehouse for the Kahului Railroad Company. It was converted into a theatre with a seating capacity of 700, opening to the public in August of 1912. In 1917, however, a fire broke out in the film room and the building was destroyed. A new venue, The Kahului Theatre, opened in its place later that year.

Portuguese immigration to Hawaii began in 1878 when laborers from Madeira and the Azores migrated there to work in the sugarcane plantations. By the end of 1911, nearly 16,000 Portuguese immigrants had arrived.
