A rare, vibrant group of material pertaining to the fashion projects of the iconic and influential performer Selena Quintanilla, the “Queen of Tejano Music.” Included are two issues of the “Selena Etc. Inc.” catalog; a large paper bag from one of the Selena Etc. stores; an information packet for her 1994 fashion show; a receipt bearing Selena’s portrait; and a leather keychain embossed with the logo for her line of jeans.

Selena Etc. was the name of two boutique and beauty salons established by late pop star Selena. At the height of her career in 1994, Selena launched Selena Etc. in Corpus Christi and another location later that year in San Antonio. Known for the colorful stage costumes that she designed herself, Selena collaborated with Martin Gomez to manufacture her own line of clothing influenced by Latin American fashion to sell in the stores. Selena Etc. was a major component in Selena’s murder: Yolanda Sadivar who served as both manager to the boutiques and president of the official Selena fan club, was found to be embezzling money from both businesses. When confronted by Selena about the issue, Sadivar shot at Selena which proved fatal. The San Antonio location was shuttered after her passing and the Corpus Christi boutique was carried on by Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, until the 2009 recession. Some of the original designs by Selena and other memorabilia from the boutique is still sold today at The Selena Museum in Corpus Christi.
