These sharp, professional photos document production operations at the Shewan-Jones facility, offering views of the fermenting tank, brandy chilling tanks, distilled water tank, pomace hoppers, cooling and rectifying plants and sherry butts, as well as shots of the bottling operations and overviews of the facility.
In 1938, the company was acquired by Distillers Products Corporation. According to a New York Times article, at the time of the sale the facility was equipped with “a winery with grape-crushing capacity of 20,000 tons, a large brandy distillery, brandy warehouses capable of aging 2,000,000 gallons without additional building construction and a wine storage capacity of 2,000,000 gallons.”
