This typed, one-page periodical, published in the raucous boomtown of Goldfield, Nevada, in April of 1910, is likely the work of a young student or other budding journalist.

The events recounted include: an anecdote of two twelve-year old robbers; a report on the local Basketball team; an update on the number of hens “setting on eggs already” (25); a harrowing tale of three boys seriously injured while playing with dynamite; and section titled “Goldfield Gossip” which offers such juicy local tidbits as “If you go up on the malapai now you will see the grass coming up. It is now one inch high.” And “Bill is having a dandy time on his front porch. It is nice and shady as well as cool.”

The text makes reference to "page three column two" but we believe that was just a way to make it sound more "professionally," and this is the entire document.

Overall, a rare and charming document from a Nevada gold rush town.

From the estate of Ron Lerch.
