A dramatic, brief time exposure of a lightning storm over San Mateo County, CA. The picture was shot from the porch of a Belmont-based, Associated Press darkroom assistant named Wallace Fong Jr. Fong had a long career with the Associated Press, working in the darkroom alongside his father, Wallace H. Fong, himself an accomplished photographer who had spent many years previous as the staff photographer for San Francisco's "Chinese Digest."
