A fascinating collection of photos showing the work of pioneering Canadian tattoo artist, shown here inking the legs of women, the feet of babies, the lips of sailors, and more.

Doc Forbes was a pioneering Canadian tattoo artist and a foundational figure in the art of traditional design. He discovered the world of tattoo at sixteen years old, while traveling with the circus. In 1958, shortly before these photos were shot, he was only one of three tattoo artists practicing in Canada.
