Disbound album with 28 photographs including some richly-printed cyanotypes, documenting Cripple Creek, Colorado, around the turn of the century. Including: a birds eye view of the town; municipal buildings including a nice shot of the Cripple Creek city hall adorned for some parade or festival; two charming group portraits, one of police officers and another of some local boys on Bennett Avenue, proudly posed on their burros; a well-composed still life of freshly-caught fish; rugged landscapes; trestles, mills and other scenes of industry; and a few scenes of homelife. Many of the photographs are framed with artistically-printed borders.
There is an intriguing triptych of a woman in a photo studio posed in front of her camera. She bears a striking resemblance to the Cripple Creek photographer Julia Skolas, who opened a studio there in 1907. While we have been unable to match any of the present photographs to known images by Skolas, we believe the work is possibly hers.
