This suite of sharp, uniform images documents the devastating aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and the efforts to rebuild the city in the subsequent years. The straightforward, professional shorts are reminiscent of noted photographer H.C. Tibbitts, but they were possibly completed by a number of the city’s commercial practitioners who documented (and capitalized on) the vast destruction. Also included is a four-part panoramic view of the city, taken in 1909, as seen from the Chronicle Building.
