Scrapbook of photographs and other ephemera commemorating the raucous inaugural year of the Texas Roadrunners, a co-ed, Kingsville-based A.M.A. club, with dynamic snapshots of the speedsters' high-octane activities across the Lone Star State. Included are scenes of the fearless men and women participating in races, runs and trails in Mathis Lake, San Antonio, Pharr, Falfurrias, and Corpus Christi; as well as photographs of the club members hanging out, drinking beers, watching races, and posing proudly on top of their rides. There are a handful of scenes depicting the bravest of the Roadrunners attempting some insane-looking stunts, including several views of one club member driving through a free-standing barn door that has been set on fire. Also present are photos of club members proudly displaying a banner for winning the 1947 A.M.A. Safety Award, if you can believe it.
In addition to the photographs, the album contains some ephemera such as tickets and programs as well as magazine clippings announcing the Roadrunners membership into the A.M.A.
