Twenty late 19th and early 20th century photographs depicting Chinese or Chinese Americans subjects, mounted to a pair of photo album pages, with manuscript title, “A Few Chinamen.” The majority...Twenty late 19th and early 20th century photographs depicting Chinese or Chinese Americans subjects, mounted to a pair of photo album pages, with manuscript title, “A Few Chinamen.” The majority of the men are photographed using the Bertillon method of criminal identification (side and profile), though a couple appear to have been sourced from existing images. While the exact purpose of the compilation is unclear, it is nonetheless a compelling assemblage.
