A charming group of photographs shot by the photographer Emmy Haas, chronicling “life on Lion Island” at the Bronx zoo. These images, showing a pair of adult lions and their adorable cubs, were the source for Haas's 1967 photo-book, “Pride’s Progress" and many of the shots seen here appear in the published book. The second image seen here, for example, illustrates the book's inside cover.
Emily Haas Davidson was a dancer and artist. In 1967, she married the photographer Bruce Davidson and collaborated with him throughout her life.
