A beautiful and lushly-printed album containing tender cyanotype photograms of floral specimens. The album is titled “Blue Prints of Flowers” and is dated 1916. We have been unable to find any information about the artist, one Francis M. Fischer, but her assured hand recalls not only the work of Anna Atkins, naturally, but also the striking, modernist photograms of the early 20th-century.
Captions / specimens shown in the album include:
Dandelion blossom; blossom in seed; fern; maidenhair fern; blue violets; swamp pink; lady slipper; honeysuckle; pink clover; striped grass; buttercup; bachelor’s button; false Solomon’s seal; Chinese pink; Jill-over-the-ground; Boston ferns; Dutchman’s pipe; strawberry leaf; Shasta daisy; pansy; rocket, white locust; sweet pea; red rose; primrose; and a four-leaf clover.
