Alison Rossiter is an American artist who creates camera-less photographs, drawing from the mechanics and materials of a pre-digital age. She acquires decades-expired photographic paper which she develops in the dark room, revealing beautifully-abstract, minimalist compositions of light and dark. In this case, the work evokes a stark mountain landscape. Her titles reflect the paper she uses (here, "Sears Roebuck and Co.") which recalls a time past in both photographic and American history.
