A handsome presentation album showcasing displays from the 1869 exposition held on the esplanade of the Hotel de Ville in Beauvais, France. The exposition included rooms displaying tapestries, arms and armor, manuscripts, metalwork, paintings, furniture, sculpture, ancient ceramics, coins, fans, snuff boxes, silks, and bronzes, created from the middle ages up to 1789. A commission appointed by the municipal Administration had unpacked, labeled and classified more than two thousand different pieces, which came from local museums, archives, and private collections. A contemporary account reports the exposition received up to 10,000 visitors a day. Napoleon visited the Exhibition in June 1869.
