A flush-mounted vintage print of one of Weston's most celebrated rock studies, made at Point Lobos in 1930. Working along the tide pools and eroded outcroppings of this stretch of coastline—an area synonymous with his photographs that has since come to be known as "Weston Beach"—the photographer studied the natural surroundings for forms, textures, and shadows cast in the afternoon light. The result is a photograph that finds formal abstraction and beauty in the natural world—something few photographers have managed as convincingly as Weston.
