A group of eight fantastically produced cyanotype photograms on postcard stock. The photographer, modestly credited as G.L.B., on only one card, was apparently more experienced than the average amateur annotating one photograph with the statement "I photo without a camera."
Most (5 of 8) are notated on verso with the names and locations of the collected specimens. Appearing on one photograph from Tampa, Florida, "a leaf partly green, partly white, Staghorn Fern, new to me" and "The curly lines; Tillandsia, common name Spanish moss. It is a parasite." Another sun print annotated "Sweet Sixteen" states that it was "Plucked, printed 21 aug., Duluth, Minnesota" and humorously includes "Wild Oats" in the composition. The placement of the handwritten identifications on the verso of this print align directly with their visual counterpart on the recto.
The images, comprising both pressed and fresh specimens, are beautifully delicate and the prints are rendered in deep, rich hues of cyan and royal blue.
