A series of three posters relating to the events surrounding the incarceration of Leonard Crow Dog and the American Indian Movement. The events advertised, chronologically, include: A Rally in support of the struggles of Native American people, featuring attorney William Kunsler and Leonard Crow Dog, at the Washington Square Church, which was followed by a screening of the film Ghost Dance of the Red Nations, and also featured the work of the photographer Richard Erdoes; A Benefit for the Crow Dog Defense, May 19, 1976, at the Walden School in New York City, which featured two ceremonials by Leonard Crow Dog and Charlie Murrow; and the Crow Dog Sun Dance, held August 5-8, 1976 at the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. The Sun dance was held while Crow Dog was incarcerated in Terre Haute, Indiana, following his arrest. We find no information on the Sun Dance held at the Rosebud Reservation in 1976, and only one example of this poster, in the Labadie Collection at University of Michigan. We find no examples of the Washington Square Church event poster, and one other copy of the Walden School event. We find no other record of the film mentioned.
