This 1968, documenting Mobil gas stations, was produced in conjunction with improvements and renovations made to the company’s various Wisconsin locations. Each page contains a color photo of a Mobil service station (the best of which evoke the work of Stephen Shore) along with a typed address and station number. The album also contains form letters sent to the stations’ franchisees, informing them of the cost of the renovations and reminding them of their commitment “to be a good neighbor” by contributing to the health, safety and comfort of the motoring public and by keeping their premises clean and free of junk cars. The album’s vibrant views and supplementary material typologically document the roadways of a shifting American landscape.
