A dynamic photographic assemblage, advertising the historic town of Sonora, California as host of the 48th annual session of the Grand Encampment of the State of California, International Order of Odd Fellows. Present in the image are views of Sonora’s court house, hospital, railroad depot, the Hotel Victoria, mining operations, Birdseye views, and more.
About 800 Odd Fellows and their families took a special train from San Francisco to the historic gold rush town, where it was “handsomely decorated with the colors of the order,” according to an account published in the Fort Bragg Advocate and News.
The photos within the photo have a credit stamp on the mount to “Harrington,” a local commercial photographer, so we presume he produced this photo as well.
From the estate of Ron Lerch.
