Eight photographs by Laton Alton Huffman, one of the most celebrated photographers of the American West.
Captions include: "The foreman 'telling off' his riders for the circle"; "An old buffalo hunter's camp in tall grass breaks (?), a relic of the late seventies"; "Branding calves in corral"; "At the Bow-Gun Ranch, Montana"; "The branding fire"; "The round-up, cattling at Poker Jim Creek"; "Holding a herd"; and "Herd moving from camp, Cache Creek."
While his photographs were more commonly reproduced as collotypes, vintage photographic prints such as these are extremely scarce. The image titled "old buffalo hunter's camp..." is initialed on the verso.
