The men were arrested in Keyport, New Jersey, discovered in the sub-cellar of a home run by former bootleggers who turned to human smuggling after the repeal of prohibition. The prisoners told authorities they traveled from China to an undisclosed Virginia port, and then were transported to New Jersey hidden in potato sacks.
