The 1910 Munsey Historic Tour covered over 1500 miles through various routes from New York City to Washington D.C.

Held in August, the race was designed to showcase the the performance and dependability of newly manufactured motor vehicles. This test of endurance challenged the vehicles to traverse rough terrain and bustling cities, attracting prominent drivers and car manufacturers from across the United States, including Ford, Buick, Maxwell, and Stoddard-Dayton. The race marked a turning point in the burgeoning automotive industry and served as an opportune platform for showcasing the latest models to a rapidly growing audience. Additionally, this race was one of the first to feature scheduled stops at different locations, which significantly contributed to the spectator interest and national publicity surrounding the event.

The photographs mostly show car number 10, a Warren-Detroit automobile driven by a Mr. Berger. The car placed 19th in the race. Spooner and Wells were known as great auto-racing photographers who captured some of the most exciting scenes from the early days of the American automobile.
