Henry Irving was a British photographer who documented the natural world in the early 20th-century. Between 1899 and 1922 he produced a series of rich, assured botanical studies. Irving’s ability to capture intricate details of the flora and his command of the platinum print process recalls the work of Karl Blossfeldt and, later, Irving Penn. Though never a member of the Royal Photographic Society, his photos were shown at their annual exhibitions on numerous occasions.
