A curious album photographs made in Philadelphia by an anonymous appreciator of stiletto-heeled footwear.
Each of the 154 photographs portrays a well-dressed woman, sometimes multiple, mid-step, chatting with friends, or waiting to cross the street, all sharing in one detail; their chosen style of shoe. The candid qualities of the images are reminiscent of Winogrand's street photographs from "Women are Beautiful," or Walker Evans' secret portraits of passersby in Detroit or on the subways of New York, while the album as a whole introduces ideas of thematic obsession and typological compilation.
