Ralph Nykvist is a Swedish photographer known for his street photography. Born in Landskrona, Sweden in 1944, Nykvist began his professional career at just sixteen years old when he found a job as a reproduction photographer at an advertising company. In 1968, he continued a career after finding work in press photography. His freelance work started a decade later in 1979 when he began doing international assignments and regularly contributed to ETC magazine. His most known publication is his 1991 collaboration with Anders Petersen to photograph the Venice Carnival. Nykvist is somewhat of a local celebrity on the streets of Helsingborg, recognized as the man perpetually holding a camera, but he currently resides in Malmö. Recently, his life's work from 1962 to 2010 was donated to the Helsingborg Museum where it has been digitized and archived.
