With sun-soaked photos of dragsters and their mechanical chariots, this album chronicles the high-octane endeavors of Mike and Mel Swain, a pair of brothers from Covina, California, competing in the 1970 Land Speed Record Trials at El Mirage dry lake with their modified roadster “Shine On I.” According to a newspaper article pasted to one of the album pages, the brothers had been racing since they were five and seven years old. "Shine on I" took a year and a half to build, was based on a 1927 Model T Ford, and was powered by a 388 cu. in. supercharged Chrysler engine.
